Kai Brown began working with glass in 2013 while pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering at Oregon State University. As his passion for the craft grew, he committed to pursuing glass art full-time after graduation, attending numerous workshops with skilled and renowned artists to refine his technique. He currently works out of his home studio in Oregon, USA. Some of his work, along with a detailed step-by-step tutorial, is featured in Bandhu Dunham’s 4th edition of Contemporary Lampworking. Kai was the 2nd place winner in the pendant category at the Glass Vegas Expo in 2021. Kai is now returning to school to pursue a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), combining his dedication to precision and care in both art and science.
“To me, glass art mirrors life itself — its struggles, heartbreaks, complexities, and moments of unity. Each piece holds within it the tension between fragility and resilience, chaos and harmony. Mandalas, in my work, symbolize the finite patterns that emerge within the infinite, reminding us that even in vastness, beauty and order can be found.”
